Have you ever opened up the laundry room door only to realize the ironing board is in the way? Do you have a hard time finding a place to store your ironing board when you’re not using it?

Good, I’m not alone then.

BUT soon you won’t have these concerns anymore if you try out these ideas.

I mean, hanging the ironing board on the back of the door or wall using decorative towel hooks?

That’s awesome.

Add a crate above for a stylish place to put the iron too? Genius.

Or a ready-to-go ironing board solution that ALSO has storage for the iron and other necessities? Fantastic.

Ironing board that mounts on the back of the door AND folds down with ease? Even more fantastic.

Right now my utility sink is filled with spiderwebs… and spiders. I want to fix that and make it a sink I can actually use.

There are a few ways you can pretty up your utility sink. The first is with a simple fabric skirt.

I love how these skirts bring a pop of color to the laundry room—these rooms look like places I actually want to spend time in. Here’s a great tutorial on how to make a no-sew skirt for your utility sink.

Another way to revamp your utility sink is do give it a rustic makeover. The folks at Timeless Creations re-did the laundry room utility sink for only $10 and it looks amazing—get the full tutorial here.

12. DIY an Easy Table For Folding Clothes

Warm, soft clothes straight out of the dryer are one of life’s simple pleasures. When clothes are freshly dried it’s easier to fold them, and it can actually be a little bit enjoyable too.

But most times I deprive myself of this simple joy by throwing all the clothes into the laundry basket and waiting until they are all wrinkled to try to fold and sort them.

If only I could have a place to fold clothes in the laundry room—right after they are done drying—I’d be a happy woman.

Good news: I can!

And so can you. If you have front-loading machines, just put a board over the top for an easy folding table that looks great.

If you have older top loading machines (like I do) and if you are short on space (like I am), try mounting a table on the wall that folds down when you aren’t using it to maximize the room.

13. Add Some Greenery

Okay, so this isn’t really a laundry room hack, but adding some green pots or flowers WILL make your space feel all the more homey and cozy.

Opt for low maintenance plants, like succulents or cacti, or even realistic-looking fake ferns and flowers.

Style your arrangements in clear glass jars or simple ceramics for a clean, fresh look.

14. Be Creative with Your Shelving

You may have room to add traditional cabinets, so I’d say go with that. BUT spice it up a little and add in some open shelving too.

Or you could just choose to be a bit more adventurous in your creativity. Try out just using a thick single wood board across your machines to add just enough space to put your detergent, stain-fighting materials, and other essentials.

Or use wire or wicker baskets to add more texture as inventive wall storage.

If you have some industrial-rustic going on in your house could also opt for hanging pipe shelving.

15. DIY Your Laundry Sorting Station

Wouldn’t it be great if you could unload the dryer and sort the clothes at once?

And then make YOUR KIDS grab THEIR own designated basket and carry it to their rooms THEMSELVES?

Yep, that’s the dream. Good thing it’s within reach with these easy ideas.

Sort your laundry before you wash using hanging linen bags on the wall.

After clothes dry, divide and conquer the load using baskets under the machines (check out the tutorial here), overhead on a shelf, or in a separate laundry sorter station so everyone in your family will have all their clothes in one spot.
